Australian Cadet and U15 Championships on in Perth!

Dear Fencers and Fencing families.

 

The Australian 2017 Cadet and U15 Fencing Championships are on this weekend here in Perth.
This exciting event is being held at Cockburn Basketball stadium from Wednesday the 7th to Sunday the 9th of July.

 

Please come down and support our youngest fencers as they fence off against the best Australia has to offer!

Thank you to to our outgoing communications officer

FencingWA would like to extend its gratitude and appreciation to Darren Chang for his years of supporting the state association as a board member and communications officer. Darren has played an important role in the direction of the association and being the key communication channel between fencers, clubs and the association. We wish him all the best in his future endeavours and he will be sorely missed at the monthly association meetings.

Modern PentathlonWA Event

Interested in trying fencing in a whole new way?

Modern Pentathlon WA is running the Inaugural W.A. Modern Pentathlon/Tetrathlon State Championships in Perth on May 6 and 7.

There will be a range of events from the full Pentathlon to a Triathlon with athletes from around the country coming to try their hand, horse and epee against our own Pentathletes.

The events include:

  • Modern Pentathlon (UIPM) – Ride, Swim, Fence, Combined (Run/Shoot)
  • Tetrathlon (Pony Club Style) – Ride, Swim, Run, Shoot (Laser Pistols 10m)

    U15 and U17 Nationals to be held in Perth

    Dear Fencers and Fencing Families,

    Even though you might not have thought about your child fencing in a national competition before, this year FencingWA is hosting the 2017 Australian Cadet and U15 Championships. I competed in my first national championships when cadets were in Perth in 2010. I had only ever fenced one state competition and was wearing someone else’s whites, but it was a fantastic introduction to the sport at a national level for me and my parents.

    Changes to Late Entry Policy

    FencingWA has amended the competition entry policy to allow for on the day entries. Super late entries will be accepted from 10pm on the Wednesday night before the competition up until roll call.

    It is important to have an accurate list of entrants well in advance of the event in order to allow for allocating referees, setting up the events, starting on time, etc. On-the-day entries have not been allowed since 2015 and this has been enforced progressively more strictly. In the vast majority of cases, fencers and parents have adjusted to the requirements and enter on time without problems. …
